It’s been a great start to the year; the
coaches are very pleased with swimmer progress in practices, and
are excited to watch that progress turn into great results at the
Championship meets coming up. Last year we were Inland Empire
Champions at the Jr. Champs meet, and 4th at the Sr.
Champs meet. If it is
possible for you and your family, please take a look and head on
down to these meets.
Practice Canceled on Saturday
Just a reminder that there is not
practice this Saturday. Masters group, there is practice
on Friday. See you all
at the pool.
Junior Champs
This is our first team
championship meet of the year! We highly encourage all
swimmers 14 years and younger (even if you are new to the team) to
attend this championship-style event. If you are in the Age Group,
we want you there; if you are a Ripple, please, sign up for the
meet. Last year we walked out of this meet the Inland Empire
Jr. Champions!!! We
have a chance to repeat if we can get great participation like we
had last year. Entries
will be due Tuesday, February 2nd. Again, this
meet is one of the most important meets of the year—we hope
to see you there! Please click on the
Events & Meets section of the website to
sign up; if you need a place to stay,
IES Short Course Champs
Our second team
championship requires qualifying times, and is the premier local
meet of the season. We will be going head-to-head with the fastest
swimmers from all of Inland Empire Swimming. As a team, our
swimmers have worked hard, long, and done everything they need to
prepare to excel at this meet. Sign-ups are due in a few weeks,
and the meet information is posted under the
Events & Meets
tab. If you qualify and have a
chance to go, please take the opportunity to race for our
team.
Shamrock & Pentathlon
I know that
March and April seem far away, but you’ll be surprised at how
quickly they come and how much work we have to do to get
ready. Make sure that you have the weekends of March 12-14
and April 17-19 blocked out so you can participate and volunteer
for the swim meets that we host. These are a lot bigger and
more complicated than our developmental meets, so we’ll need
all hands on deck! The
on-line job sign-ups will be posted soon, remember that the family
volunteer hours need to be fulfilled, and these meets are just
about the easiest way to do it.
Training Tip of the Week
These next few
weeks are all about one word: intensity. Whether its technique or sprints,
or even distance sets, it’s all about remaining focused and
keeping your intensity level up. Make sure that you are listening
well to your coach, and are ready and willing to give intensity
when he or she asks for it.
Please
get your sign ups in as soon as possible. As always, if you have any
questions, please contact a coach. Have a great
week!
