We have a lot of
meets on the horizon, and a lot of other events coming up
soon. The next few months will be the busiest
time of the year for the club. In order to make
sure that we all keep our sanity, we need to be on top of the
events. That starts right here, right
now!
Winter Invite
– Ellensburg, WA: Jan 30 – 31
Winter Invite entries are due TODAY before
midnight! Remember, this is a Saturday &
Sunday meet only, and is NOT a split session—events for all
age groups will run throughout the day. If you
are still in need of a hotel room, here is the link for the
hotel block.
IES Jr. Champs
– Moscow, ID: Feb 12 – 14
This is our first team championship meet of
the year! We highly encourage all swimmers 14 years and
younger (even if you are new to the team) to attend this
championship-style event. If you are in the Age Group, we want you
there; if you are a Ripple, please, sign up for the meet.
Entries will be due Tuesday, February 2nd. Again,
this meet is one of the most important meets of the year—we
hope to see you there! Please click on the Events &
Meets section of the website to sign up; if you need a place to
stay,
IES Sr. Champs
– Ellensburg, WA: Feb 26 – 28
Our second team championship requires
qualifying times, and is the premier local meet of the season. We
will be going head-to-head with the fastest swimmers from all of
Inland Empire Swimming. It is at a fantastic facility, and
we’ll be ready to swim fast. Sign up is now available,
so please begin to reserve your spot on our championship team!
Swim-a-thon
I am looking for a few people to help out with
swim-a-thon coordination. If you are interested, please
contact Toni Endebrock @ 465-8098 or
mnkendebrock@comcast.net. We’d like to have our first
meeting ASAP, so please contact me!
Shamrock &
Pentathlon
I know that March and April seem far away, but
you’ll be surprised at how quickly they come and how much
work we have to do to get ready. Make sure that
all Waves families have the weekends of March 12-14 and April 17-19
blocked out so you can participate and volunteer for the swim meets
that we host. These are a lot bigger and more
complicated than our developmental meets, so we’ll need all
hands on deck!
Training Tip
of the Week
Check out this great backstroke video from
David Marsh, former coach at Auburn University and current head
coach of SwimMAC, one of the elite clubs in the country and home to
several current and past Olympians.
Like we said, we
have a lot going on and we’ll need your help to make it
happen. Thanks so much for your commitment so
far, and your dedication to keeping the team strong and
vibrant. Let us know if you have any
questions.
